Penthouse piazza Venezia, Largo Argentina, Rome

Historic center - Piazza Venezia - adjacent to Palazzo Grazioli we offer for rent a very particular penthouse with a terrace from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the most beautiful area of Rome completely renovated with particular care and with quality materials with a magnificent inlaid parquet measuring 260 m2 and consists of three bedrooms, four bathrooms, two living rooms and two kitchens, the monthly rent is €5,000. Palazzo Grazioli, as we see it today, is the result of the numerous modifications and restorations carried out over the centuries by the noble Roman families who resided there. According to some ancient sources, there is talk of a palace built during the 16th century by Giacomo Della Porta for the Ercolani family in the Campo Marzio district, an area rich in archaeological finds from ancient Rome. In the years between 1645 and 1650, the family of Alessandro Gottifredi, general of the Society of Jesus, settled there and had the building carried out a radical restoration by the architect Camillo Arcucci. At the beginning of the 19th century, the palace became the residence of the Ambassador of Austria, the Count of Kevenhüller, and then of the Infanta of Spain, Maria Luisa of Bourbon-Spain, Duchess of Lucca. The façade of the palace is decorated with pilasters with capitals which bear lion heads in the centre, a motif which recalls the heraldic coat of arms of the Gottifredi family. At the center of the facade is the majestic portal surmounted by a large lion's head and flanked by two Doric columns in gray granite which support a balustraded balcony onto which opens a window with an arched tympanum bearing the Grazioli coat of arms in mosaic . On the first floor between Via della Gatta and Piazza Grazioli there is a small pearl unknown to most. But if you look up at the cornice, there it is: a life-sized marble cat looks at you from its privileged observation point over the city, eager to tell its story which began more than 2000 years ago in ancient Temple of Isis and Serapis. In 1874, during the restoration of Palazzo Grazioli, the small sculpture, which probably represented Bastet, the Egyptian female deity with the appearance of a cat, was taken and moved to where it is today, and since then it has inspired three different legends. The first says that a local cat, wandering at night, having noticed the beginning of a fire, had alerted and saved the entire neighborhood with her repeated meows. The second, however, tells of a little girl who was about to fall from the ledge: the cat, by meowing, would have warned her mother and avoided the tragedy. The third, which is also the most imaginative one: the cat points her gaze in the direction of a hidden treasure which, however, no one has ever found.
