Elegant Retreat: Classic Style and Modern Comfort


The Pantiles has many nice places to eat and numerous independent shops.We can recommend eating at Essence by Atul Kochar on the Pantiles which is a fine dining Indian restaurant. There is also a Sea Food restaurant called Sankeys there along with multiple others. For cafés the Pantiles also has multiple on offer with ‘The Cake Shed’ being our most usual one.On the High Street, just after the Pantiles there are further independent shops and places to eat and drink including The Ivy. For cafes ‘Juliette’s’ on the High Street is also very good and has a great array of cakes. Tunbridge wells common is across the road from the house. The common is wooded providing nice peaceful walks and guest may also want to visit the numerous rock formations across the commons. Around 2 miles away are the Tunbridge Wells high rocks which are also beautiful. The house is well situated for exploring Kent and Sussex, being close to Ashdown Forest and the Weald of Kent (AONB). Nearby attractions also include;Penshurst Place and GardensBroadwater Warren RSPB nature reserveHever CastleChartwell (home of Sir Winston Churchill)Scotney CastleBewl WaterThere is a 24 hour petrol station which has a small shop about 170 meters up the road. Then there is a Sainsburys and a Lidl on Linden Park Road (approx. 0.3 miles). The nearest Pharmacy is ‘Imperial Pharmacy’ on the Pantiles (0.4 miles).If arriving by car the property is located between 24 and 23 Eridge Road, it is set back from the road down a gravel driveway approx. 50 meters long, there is a sign which says ‘leading to 23a and 24a Eridge Road’ at the start of the driveway. The entrance is the last turning before ‘Well House Vets’ if travelling south on the A26 or the first turning after the vets if travelling North on the A26If arriving by train Tunbridge Wells Station is 0.7 miles from the property. Alighting at the station guests would need to walk down Vale Road before turning left onto London Road following it until it becomes Eridge Road. Alternatively they can walk down the High Street and across the Pantiles which is more scenic but does require a bit more navigating. There is a taxi rank outside the front of Tunbridge Wells station (taxis have typically cost us £5-6 to get to the house).Across the road there is a bus stop called ‘Summerfield lodge’ here there are buses that run to Tunbridge Wells station, town center and other points in the town (see the bus stop sign for times).
