Hello! We’re looking for someone to fill the primary bedroom of our laid-back Oakland home, available now! Our previous roommate lived with us for three years and, sadly for us, left to be closer to their family. That said, we’re excited to find the next great fit for our neuroqueer and trans-affirming space!About us: We’re Kitt (they/them) & Bex (he/they), a non-binary transmasc dynamic duo. Kitt works in San Francisco as a therapeutic movement coach, and Bex is a high school art teacher. Both of us are in our mid/late 30s, neurodivergent, and queer. We’ve worked hard to make our home a place where all residents and guests can safely unmask and be themselves; our ideal new housemate would share our definition of home. Location: The house is located near the Fruitvale/Dimond district and in walking distance from two grocery stores (Safeway and Farmer Joe’s), as well as many cute coffee shops and restaurants. We’re about 1.5 miles from Fruitvale BART. Recently, Lyft has added a bike share depot with e-bikes available about halfway between our house and the BART station, making public transit more accessible.Joaquin Miller Park, Redwoods Regional Park, and several other lovely outdoor areas are about a 10-minute drive awayThe room: Super cute, about 150 sq. ft. with an en suite bathroom and closet/storage space. You’ll get lots of natural light throughout the day. It’s quiet and privateOther amenities: Off-street parking for 1 vehicle, cozy living room, extra large kitchen, washer/dryer on site, home gym, extra storage space under the house, shared office space, professional-level house cleaning. We also have a large yard that needs some work, but could be a great household project if you’re into itPets: We have one cat, Ori. He’s an adorable curmudgeon and is quite vocal about his disdain for other creatures (including us) - but we love him for that. He talks a big game but actually cohabitates well with other animals. We have also recently adopted a dog, Lyra, a very sweet 1.5 year old pit bull mix. She gets along with everyone!We’d LOVE someone to bring their well-behaved, cat-tolerant pet or support animal to join our little menagerie.Accessibility: There are 4 stone steps with a handrail leading up to the front door. Kitt is particularly sensitive to strong, perfumey smells so we limit the use of heavily-scented cleaning products, scented candles/incense, etc. Substances: our home is cannabis-friendly. At the moment, we do smoke in common areas, but we are open to negotiating if you’re sensitive to that. We are not big drinkers, but you’re more than welcome to have alcohol for your own consumption. Rent: $1500/month, includes utilities (PG&E, water, Sonic fiber internet)Security deposit (refundable): $1000Ideally, we want someone to reside with us long-term.
